Keeping Communities Safe is a Youth Mentoring Program /Community Advocacy Agency
Our mission is very simple, we want our youth to leave the gangs, and ultimately take responsibility for their actions. By teaching them the importance of work, we hope to instill a sense of power and a belief that they too can achieve whatever it is they desire. “KCS” can keep our youth out of harm’s way and in turn, transform them into model students and model citizens, teens who display strong qualities of societal participation and leadership. Also assisting our youth/ foster care youth and families and their siblings in any aspect such as Early Intervention for children birth to 3 with developmental delays or disabilities. Maintaining ongoing contact with families, ensuring approved services are provided promptly, and advocating for the services parents feel their child and or children need.
The program is also designed to support adults in our community who are at high risk or even have some involvement in the juvenile or criminal justice system and need assistance in getting back on track toward healthy adulthood.
As a community advocacy agency, we assist our families with housing advocacy, snap benefits/re certifications, utility advocacy, furniture, rental arrears. job placement and more.
In 2019 we were able to get more than 23 families out of homeless/ domestic violence shelters into safe housing.
